Direct Hire vs Staff Augmentation: which offering fits your need

Understand the difference between Direct Hire and Staff Augmentation so you can pick the right fit for your hiring needs.

Written by RecruitiFi

RecruitiFi supports two ways of engaging talent through staffing agencies, organized as separate modules on the platform. Understanding the difference helps you evaluate the right one for your needs.

Direct Hire (permanent placement):

  • What it is: Agencies submit candidates for full-time, permanent roles at your company. The hire becomes your employee.

  • How you pay: A success-based placement fee when a hire is made, backed by a guarantee period.

  • Best for: Salaried openings, hard-to-fill professional roles, and consolidating your permanent placement agency spend.

Staff Augmentation (contract workforce):

  • What it is: Agencies place contract workers on assignment with you. The worker is employed by the agency, and the engagement runs on a contract with timesheets.

  • How you pay: An hourly bill rate against approved timesheets, consolidated into RecruitiFi invoices, with the option to convert workers to permanent later.

  • Best for: Temporary needs, project-based work, temp-to-perm evaluation, and contingent workforce programs.

Both modules run in one account, with the same agencies, agreements, and reporting. Many clients use both. If you are unsure which fits, request a demo, and the team will walk through your use case.
